Objective of Trade Union :

          (1)   To protect the jobs of labour against retrenchment and layoff etc.

                  other benefits.

          (4)   To secure bonus for the workers from the profits of the

                   enterprise/organization.

          (5)   To ensure stable employment for workers and resist the schemes of

                   management which reduce employment opportunities.

          (6)   To secure for workers better working conditions.

          (7)   To provide legal assistance to workers in connection with disputes  

                  regarding work  and payment  of wages.

          (8)   To secure for the workers better safety and health welfare schemes.

(9)   To ensure opportunities for promotion and training. 

(10)  To inculcate discipline, self-respect and dignity among workers.

(11) To secure workers participation in management.

(12) To secure organizational efficiency and high productivity.

(13) To generate a committed industrial work force for improving

        productivity of the system.

Importance of Trade Unions:

To Employees:

           (01).Members of the union tend to have higher wages than non-unionized

                   workers.

           (02) Trade unions also sometimes act as representatives of workers in case of

                    legal matters.

           (03) The rights of the employees are better protected. For example, they

                    cannot be unjustly removed from work.

To Employers:

            Since the individual rights of workers are better protected and well   

            represented, they tend  to be motivated. This results in higher levels of  

            efficiency and improved productivity.
